PVG

What is the PVG check?

A PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check is specifically designed to safeguard children and vulnerable adults from individuals who may pose a risk to their well-being. This check, conducted under the PVG Scheme by Disclosure Scotland, involves a thorough background investigation to identify any criminal records or relevant information that might disqualify an individual from working with vulnerable groups. The PVG check ensures that those who are barred from regulated work are identified and prevented from gaining access to positions of trust. To be eligible for the PVG Scheme individuals must be working in Scotland and undertaking regulated activity with children and/or adults.

By performing PVG checks, organisations can ensure that their staff members are suitable for roles involving vulnerable individuals, thereby maintaining a safe and secure environment. This process is crucial for compliance with legal requirements and for upholding the organisation's commitment to protecting those who are most at risk.
